Today was a wonderful time, for the first warmth in the sun that peeped out from behind the clouds. The angle of the light is gaining height meaning that the days will soon be longer. There is a promise of spring, in the air, in the soil and in the beautiful colours of tiny dandelions and croci beginning to tentatively emerge. I spent it with a very old friend who I was lucky enough to be taught by, during my first degree in fashion design with retail management. Jane, who prefers to stay behind the camera, took a fantastic photo of me at the Museum of Making in Derby town centre in the model railway space. Despite having lived in Derby for over ten years now, I learned for the first time that the model railway was first displayed in the city during 1951. It was such a pleasure walking round with someone who has never visited before. You see your hometown with fresh eyes. It was invigorating and great fun!
